Luca Sonzogni is a qualified Nutritional Therapist and talks about micronutrients. He explains how including more foods high in vitamins and minerals is an essential part of our nutrition and something everyone should be taking really seriously, for long term health but also short term energy and wellbeing. These compounds are essential because the body either can’t produce them at all or not enough and they need to be coming from what we eat. Most people do not take in sufficient quantities to reach optimal levels.
Phytonutrients are rather less known and although considered not essential, they are absolutely essential to Luca’s view of nutrition and we want a lot of them coming in every day too. They have similar properties to vitamins and provide a myriad of other benefits.
Luca also covers the subject of adaptogens and, at the end of the video, explains how he developed a practice of including more micronutrients rich green leafy vegetables, kombucha tea, jiaogulan and lots of fruit and fresh produce in his nutrition. He regularly substitutes lunch with a bitter green juice made of celery, kale, parsley, ginger and turmeric, he eats spirulina and raw garlic too.
